Green Initiatives at Semieta: Going Beyond Generic Statements

At Semieta, being green is more than just a goal—it's a fundamental part of who we are and, as a small, family-run business, we're keen to highlight the specifics of what we've been doing, going beyond generic statements. Here are some of the ways we’ve been reducing our environmental impact.

  • Eco-friendly software: We've developed a feature that allows clients to save energy by automatically shutting down unnecessary power units overnight. It's a small change but it adds up!

  • Locally based engineers: We strategically employ local engineers whenever possible, to reduce travel emissions; not only are we reducing our carbon footprint but we’re supporting local communities.

  • Remote support: Another big move for us is embracing remote support. It's not only convenient but also helps us cut down on unnecessary travel. In fact, over the past two years, we've saved a whopping 24,000 miles of travel by fixing things from a distance.

  • UK-manufactured controllers: We're also trying to shorten the journey our products take. By making our controllers right here in the UK, we're cutting down on thousands of miles in their manufacturing process.

  • Recycling existing hardware: We prioritize assessing existing hardware during each new installation, ensuring that we avoid unnecessary waste by repurposing and refurbishing whenever feasible. This not only reduces our environmental impact but also underscores our dedication to responsible practices. In instances where new equipment is essential, we stand firmly behind our work, offering a guarantee that underscores our commitment to fostering a greener, more sustainable future.

  • Embracing a Plastic-Free Future: We have developed a range of readers that use facial recognition or mobile phones for entry, eliminating the need for plastic cards and working towards a greener future.

  • Data Sharing:  We enable our clients the ability to share their footfall data with local businesses.  This means eateries can figure out when they're busiest and tweak their operations to cut down on food waste.

  • Ethical partnerships: Of course, we're also doing our part when it comes to only buying from ethical partners. It's not just about getting the best deal or the trendiest products - it's about making sure every step of our supply chain aligns with our values and that we’re building relationships with like-minded companies who share our values.

  • And while we’re here, we should mention that a large proportion of our staff have adopted a plant-based diet - we're all about doing our part for the planet, even at lunchtime!

As you can see, our commitment to environmental sustainability goes beyond mere rhetoric; it's ingrained in every aspect of our operations, and we won’t stop; we're constantly seeking innovative ways to reduce our carbon footprint.  We're not just talking about being green – we're actively living it every day, driving towards a more sustainable future for generations to come.
